Hi Puwet :)

Although I am in the final stages of getting my wife over here to the good ole U.S.A.,I still do research on further requirements for her to become a U.S. citizen. In my opinion,I would think that your wife would not need to apply for another SSN.She just needs to re-apply to get the restriction off,but does get to keep the same number.

Here is some good reading....and a link......

"After getting greencard, if you have not already got social security card without any restriction( that permits you to work for any employee in United States), get the social security card before leaving United States. If you were in United States on non-immigrant visa such as H-1B or H4 and you had social security card that allowed to work with INS authorization or did not allow you to work at all, you should reapply to remove that restriction before departing United States. In that case, your SSN will remain same and you should receive your new card within about 10 days."
